Monument & Bank Tube Station

Plant Moved:  4,000 kgs Fans

Over a Christmas shut-down we replaced four 4-tonne fans (two at Monument Station and two at Bank Station). The work was carried out with two gangs working at the same time to meet a tight programme.

The Monument Station fans were removed from 20 metre vertical shafts using air hoists to raise them to street level. The new fans were delivered in sections, lowered down the shaft built adjacent to the final position, slid into position on machinery-moving skates and steels and then bolted to the existing silencers.

The redundant fans at Bank Station were cut up using the cold cutting method, loaded onto track bogeys, tracked out to Poplar Station and then loaded onto vehicles. The new fans were delivered in various sections and built in position by our operatives.
